Here's my shot at making a list. My Top 5 albums....2009..GO:
5. Neon Indian - Psychic Chasm. This album sounds like the music of Saturday mornings when I was kid and got up at like 5:30am to start watching cartoons, but the cartoons weren't on yet and there were these weird live action shows that were super trippy. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

4. Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue. This albums pretty much sums up what has been going on musically in the last few years with indie/electronic type stuff. This young producer's ability to weave into and out of different styles and sub-genres all within a single track is so impressive, he makes musical classifications seems so passe and useless.

3. Moderat - Moderat. I like to show this record to my hip-hop friends and tell them this is what the future of hip hop is. They never disagree.

2. John Daly - Sea and Sky. One review summed this record up perfectly. It went something on the lines of " listening to John Daly's Sea and Sky is like listening to a special House music episode of Planet Earth." This is definitely album cover of the year for me btw.

1. Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas - II - On a production note, no album came close to the cosmic, far-out there, space ramblings of L&PT's II. Right from the start, you can tell this isn't going to be you're average space boogie affair. No, you're going out there, way out there, making stops in opium nu-jazz lounges on Mars, hyper-driving through the galaxies on a coke binge, rendezvous on venus, and gentle lullaby MDMA comedowns which all sounds like its improved by a group of musicians being conducted by magicians. This album is a recorded heaven.
