This is not a gamer blog. Upon reaching this site you have entered into The Minus World. Remember The Minus World? Super Mario Bros.? It was a feat to reach it but no matter how far you got and how much gold you collect you can never leave and time runs out. Been there in real life? We all have. We're still there. See what the Minus World has to offer... (you'll soon find out, we're not really that deep)
To proclaim the coolness of Dr. Ruth. Ryan McGinley likes her. He has her glasses on and he's kissing her. Very cool. Sex advice Dr. Ruth? We're taking it.

So yeah, one of The Peace Creeps turned us on to this, how fitting. Ummm, I guess excercise is really just soft porn. This ran on regular TV in the 80's. It's almost as good as BET late night, almost. Well, you have to pay extra for cable.
House music producer, Matthew Herbert, is know for thinking up uncanny concepts for his work as a dance music producer. On 2001's Bodily Functions, Herbert sampled noises from the human body, mutated and processed some to unrecognizable proportions while leaving other sounds untouched, and crafted a danceable piece of work. With Herbert's 2006 album, Scale, Matthew recorded his musician playing their parts in, lack of better words, extreme conditions: one drummer was recorded playing underwater, another while flying in a hot air balloon, and another while riding in a car going 100 miles an hour. He also filled the album with field recordings of sounds like gas pumps, switches levers and the sort. On his newest project, Herbert is at work making an audible life "journey" of a pig, which you'll be able to dance to of course. The concept is to make an audible documentation of a pigs life, set to electronic dance music. Except not everyone is happy with his latest piece of work. The thing is, Hebert could not find a slaughter house/butcher who would allow him to record the dying squeals of the pig he was documenting. People deemed it unethical and butchers were weary of Herbert's motives with the recordings. But anyway, the show must go on. Matthew Herbert will release the oinky album without the death sounds but all other pig-life sound intact...morphed and mutated into groovy house beats. You can follow the progress of this project over at the Herbert Pig Blog . A release date has not been set for the album yet.
Animals come and go, forever sometimes. That makes no sense. But here's a list with photos of 11 species that have become instinct within our lifetime. Way to go , Earth!
Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day, but we are in The Minus World so some things are gonna get dropped! We decided to pick this up though, we may go...
So yes, we follow things Philebrity posts. Some people think everything they post is awesome. We, obviously don't. We don't think everything sucks, but there have been somethings that really puzzle us. Like this plug for The Morning Benders. Well maybe its just a promotion for a Johnny Brenda's show. Maybe they get paid to promote JB's shows? Friends? Huh, can't figure this one out. Listen:
Has he listened to Sam Cooke? Mr. Cooke did it better and maybe this kid should use the best as a jumping off point instead of recreating something that has already been done and done better.
Boring. Watch out, these guys are going to be popular. We mean that with no sarcasm.
To save money Philadelphia should just shutdown until winter is over. If you're snowed in with nothing to do, this can occupy your time: Blood Simple. Maybe the best Cohen Bros. movie.
It's the motion. Hamburger Hill, 2002. Urethane on linen, 182.9 x 304.8cm
--"Furnas's works on paper from the last three years demonstrate the same seductive violence as the large canvases that first brought him attention. His vibrant, fractured compositions and confident surfaces-here primarily watercolor, sometimes deployed in concert with ink and urethane--suggest the cartoonish figures of Philip Guston (or Carroll Dunham, with whom he studied) put through some kind of spatiotemporal shredder. All splintered forms and great geysers of bodily fluids, Furnas's images emphasize the link between carnage and carnality; something in their constituent elements brings this connection to vivid life." -http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0268/is_3_42/ai_110913985/

Why can't Field Day happen here? I know quit bitching and try to appreciate what your local scene is offering...Hmmm...let's see. Okay I guess Making Time is doing something. But really we wish we were flying off to London to stay for a while and immersing ourselves in the condensed music scene there. New York is only a $20 bus ride away but man, wouldn't it be nice to see the Atlantic Ocean on your left instead of your right?
Yup. Mike and Gian have been making some pretty funny sketches with this series called, The Intern. Check out their site. Not all of the sketches hit it but we can see some funny things in their future. If you have time play, "The Uggly Truth."
We believe so, our intern says it happens to her every time she visits this place in South Philly. If you're ever around roll through! See how stimulating it is.
?uestlove Tweeted this pic from the NBC studios earlier this week claiming he was insulted or something by the racial insensitivity over at NBC for making a special meal for Black History Month. The chef who come up with the conceptual lunch, is black and even she didn't understand the controversy surrounding her soul food. My only argument here is, how can food make someone so upset? If there was an Italian History month, and they served gnocchi with marinara sauce at my work, I'd be stoked and pleased to eat it. I guess there can be that argument collard greens and fried chichen aren't black food, but you can also throw around the argument that pasta isn't Italian. Also, wouldn't you agree with me that this is definitely a menu you would find at a "soul food" restaurant, and most soul food places are run and owned by black people? Let's just let food be. Be happy you have a meal to eat and not cry about it being racist. I guess the looming worldwide food shortages and much more prevalent food riots taking place around the world have been on my mind and causing me to defend my favorite necessity, food. If you don't agree with me, I'd love to hear your comments. I'm not Black, so I may be missing something here that would cause someone to be upset.
I'm posting this video for laughs and Black History Months. Now, before you get your collard greens in a bunch, I don't think Lindsay Lohan has anything to do with Black History at all. I'm posting this video for my love of my girl Niecy Nash, the interviewer here. Niecy Nash was my favorite on the now defunct show Reno 911, and her personality has the ability to make me sit through that Clean House Show, and I actually laugh (albeit, i'm usually stoned.). I heard the way she got the part on Reno 911 was she went into audition, did her thing, and when she was done and got the feeling the producers weren't too impressed or "blown-away" by her acting skills, she begged to get the part and pleaded with the producers saying "i need this job! I gotta feed my baby!" So, they gave in and look where she's at now! She is that rare TV personality who gets paid to just be themselves. You Go Girl!
You can watch the whole interview here or, watch some episodes of the late Reno 911here
I can listen to a whole album remix of the XX by Matthew Dear after listening to this infectious remix of VCR by the London threesome. Check out this rad video for the remixed track above.
since 1934! Thanks Hank. Happy Birthday and while we are at it, Happy Black History month! Hmmm, he's got a nice grip on that bat! He was talented and damn cute and broke hella lots of records. Thanks again Hank.
The German airport-lounge disco duo of Aeroplane has been kind to us each and every month by compiling these white-label (mostly, i think) releases of that months new tracks into one continuous mix. So, you get a preview of hot new disco burners segued nicely into each other courtesy of your pilots, Aeroplane. No big deal.

Remember, if you are going out and need to see how good your outfit is, check it against the Sartorialist. Would Scott Schuman take your picture while you are out? (photo by Scott Schuman)
Get it? Let's make a more fashionable world! It doesn't even have to cost a lot. The Minus World has already helped you out and pointed you in the direction of the Swap-o-rama-rama.
Vicodin. Vico-profen. Vico-anything! Vico-something. Vico-death! Hmmm, accidental. This shit is getting old too. River Phoenix and Heath and Johnson heir girl and Brittany Murph, MJ and anyone, that girl from Diffrn't Strokes. All died from drugs. I think I feel a song coming on. Anyway, Brittany Murphy is dead and drugs played a part. Great. Next.
Maybe we should have known something was up after this picture was taken or is that being judgemental?
Lady Gaga's got NOTHING on this Swedish bitch. But you could tell that from just listening to Fever Rays music. Watch her acceptance speech from the Swedish "grammy's" or something:
You're blowing up. We don't mind if you get bigger. Keep making videos. Thanks.

TWO GREAT ACTS IN ONE NIGHT! This is Memory Tapes very first tour so its is sure to not be missed. He is from just over the bridge in Jersey so support your locals!
Here's my shot at making a list. My Top 5 albums....2009..GO:
5. Neon Indian - Psychic Chasm. This album sounds like the music of Saturday mornings when I was kid and got up at like 5:30am to start watching cartoons, but the cartoons weren't on yet and there were these weird live action shows that were super trippy. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.
4. Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue. This albums pretty much sums up what has been going on musically in the last few years with indie/electronic type stuff. This young producer's ability to weave into and out of different styles and sub-genres all within a single track is so impressive, he makes musical classifications seems so passe and useless.
3. Moderat - Moderat. I like to show this record to my hip-hop friends and tell them this is what the future of hip hop is. They never disagree.
2. John Daly - Sea and Sky. One review summed this record up perfectly. It went something on the lines of " listening to John Daly's Sea and Sky is like listening to a special House music episode of Planet Earth." This is definitely album cover of the year for me btw.
1. Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas - II - On a production note, no album came close to the cosmic, far-out there, space ramblings of L&PT's II. Right from the start, you can tell this isn't going to be you're average space boogie affair. No, you're going out there, way out there, making stops in opium nu-jazz lounges on Mars, hyper-driving through the galaxies on a coke binge, rendezvous on venus, and gentle lullaby MDMA comedowns which all sounds like its improved by a group of musicians being conducted by magicians. This album is a recorded heaven.
